After a three-year sabbatical, EA's arcade racing franchise Need for Speed will shortly come back with the announcement of its next installment.
A trailer for the upcoming Need for Speed game will be released in only two days, nearly three years after the release of Need for Speed: Heat, the most recent installment in Electronic Arts' renowned arcade racing series.
A little information about the title has seeped through the cracks, even though not much has been verified. Fans won't have to wait long to get more information, though.
Hundreds of Need for Speed fans have rushed to the pre-launch chat to discuss their aspirations for the game and their comments on the current direction of the franchise as a whole. The game's reveal trailer is already planned to premiere on YouTube.
Although opinions on the entry appear to have been somewhat divided, many have called for a return to the adrenaline-fueled street racing that many fans of Need for Speed: Underground or Need for Speed: Most Wanted fondly remember.
Most of this problem was avoided by Need for Speed: Heat, but it did have an odd "time-saving" DLC that, for a fee, unlocked all of the game's significant locales and items. In the end, only time will tell what the near future holds for Need for Speed fans.
