WhatsApp Blocking Screenshots of "View Once" Photos and Videos for iPhone

Last year, WhatsApp added a new "View Once" feature that enables users to communicate images and videos that vanish after being viewed, just as you can with Snapchat and Instagram.

The company now wants to go even farther with that function by prohibiting screenshots and screen captures for "View Once" photos and movies.

The most recent WhatsApp beta release for iPhone users, which is now available on TestFlight, prohibits screenshots and screen recordings for anything transmitted with the "View Once" option, according to WABetaInfo,

A notification stating that the screenshot attempt was "restricted for increased privacy" is now displayed by WhatsApp whenever someone tries to snap one while viewing "View Once" media.

To protect the person who supplied the screenshot or video, the final snapshot or screen recording will also display this notice rather than the actual content, as seen by WABetaInfo.
