The most recent Google app to add home screen widgets for iPhone and iPad is YouTube, one of which offers very practical shortcuts.
The four by 2 inch "Quick Actions" app is marketed as "the fastest way to search and browse YouTube." The "Search YouTube" field at the top immediately opens the keyboard to that UI. The microphone icon also launches voice lookup at the same time.
Then, you can click "Home," "Shorts," or "Subscriptions" to access the related feeds right away. This widget uses outline-style icons that appear in the bottom bar. The latter shortcut is convenient, while the middle reflects YouTube's immense short-form video focus.
In 2022, Google released its last big batch of iOS widgets, including shortcuts for Translate, Inbox from Gmail, and Drive's XL iPad options. The company finished rolling out its six Lock Screen widgets earlier this week.
