Square Enix has filed for a new trademark called “Symbiogenesis,” which could indicate a new Parasite Eve title.
The trademark was first applied on October 13th in Japan and became public on October 24th. Bandai Namco also filed a trademark for “Dream Match” on October 14th.
Not much is known about Symbiogenesis, but the name means “the merging of two separate organisms to form a single new organism” in Wiktionary.
Parasite Eve fans will be familiar with the description, which was the foundation of the Parasite Eve novel in 1995 and substituent three games developed by Square Enix in 1998, 1999, and 2010.
According to Weekly Famitsu, 956,461 units of Parasite Eve were sold in Japan during the first half of 1998, making it the country’s third-best-selling game.
Two video game sequels also followed the original title: The 3rd Birthday and Parasite Eve II were rereleased on the PlayStation Network in 2010. By 2010, more than 3 million copies of the first two games, Parasite Eve and Parasite Eve II, had been distributed worldwide.
