The largest consumer technology transaction in twenty years—$69 Microsoft's billion acquisition of video game publisher Activision—was challenged by the F.T.C. in court on Thursday.

The deed underlined Ms. Khan's remarks about curbing corporate power. It was the most audacious lawsuit filed recently by the agency to stop another, smaller deal in the name of competition.
