It was previously expected that at most fifty patients a year would be seen at the clinic; however, the National Centre for Gaming Disorders has received 855 patient referrals in a little under three years since it opened its doors.

It was a two-part analysis published in The Guardian, with one of the chapters written up by Professor Henrietta Bowden-Jones, the Director of the 'NCGD.' An article written by Rob Davies and published in the other volume takes a more gambling-centric perspective.
