Capcom Details Light Bowgun Boosted Actions for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance

The Light Bowgun trailer highlights the weapon’s evolved move set for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion.

The footage highlights the expansion’s new “Boosted Actions,” a mechanical overhaul powered by a piece of equipment known as the Boost Bracer. By maintaining aggressive combat and landing consistent hits, hunters can charge the bracer to unleash enhanced maneuvers. For the Light Bowgun, these additions emphasize a “Run & Gun” philosophy, allowing for more fluid movement while discharging ammunition.

New Combat Capabilities

The trailer details three primary technical additions to the Light Bowgun’s repertoire:

Storm of Bullets: A high-volume, rapid-fire attack that focuses a massive amount of damage in a short window, ideal for exploitation when a monster is toppled.
Gunslinging Counters: Defensive maneuvers that allow players to react to incoming monster attacks with a counter-shot, maintaining offensive pressure without needing to dodge away from the target.
Enhanced Run & Gun: Refined mobility options that bridge the gap between reloading and shooting, ensuring that the hunter remains a difficult target to pin down.

Expansion Narrative and Requirements

The Ascendance expansion serves as the Master Rank chapter for Monster Hunter Wilds, moving the narrative forward by several years. This time-skip introduces players to the Skybound Eyrie, a new locale designed to house the expansion’s endgame threats.

Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is scheduled for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Accessing the new content will require players to own the base game and have completed the 7-star assignment “Awaking From a Dream.”
