Passkeys Are Now Supported in Google Chrome, Making It Simpler To Log into Websites

A new industry standard called passkeys, which makes it simpler and safer to log into websites and apps, has been announced by Google Chrome as having gained support.

By enabling users to authenticate and log into websites using their iPhone or Android devices, Passkeys do away with the need for a password.

On more recent versions of iOS and Android, users can use biometric authentication on a trusted device to confirm their identity when visiting websites that support passkeys.

According to a blog post from Google, chrome will now support passkey, enabling users to log in by scanning a QR code with their Android or iPhone device. Passkey support for Chrome on Android will come soon as well.

You can use a passkey from your nearby mobile device on a desktop device. Since industry standards create passkeys, you can use Android or iOS devices.

This method of signing in prevents your passkey from leaving your mobile device. Contrary to passwords, nothing is exchanged with the site other than a securely generated code.
