The President of Sega has Stated That The Company is "Considering" the Production of Additional Sonic Remakes and Reboots

The boss of Sega stated in an interview with Famitsu that the company focuses on what is best for each intellectual property (IP), even though reboots and remakes are only appropriate for some of Sega's properties.

"Of course, we are going to have to do new things, but not all IPs are the same for new releases and reboots," Sugino added.

"At this time, we will determine the most appropriate course of action for each IP. In addition to developing brand-new games, Sega is mulling over the possibility of remaking and rebooting their main intellectual property, Sonic.

Iizuka responded, "I can't say yes to anything right now," and he meant it. "As of late, I've been working as the creative officer for Sonic the Hedgehog, which means that I've been concentrating on that aspect of the company.

"Now, I can't speak for anyone else, but I can say that Sonic Team in Japan has been ramping up and hiring many people recently — they have more personnel than ever. Therefore, there is a possibility that you will hear of titles like these at some point in the future.

According to a report published by Bloomberg in 2017, Sega is reportedly working on high-budget reboots of the games Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio.

The report also claimed that these games would be the first titles in Sega's 'Super Game' initiative, a five-year strategy involving "the development of AAA titles that cross over Sega's comprehensive range of technologies."
