Solo Leveling: KARMA Trailers Reveal Playable Shadow Army and 27-Year War Lore

Published on:

Netmarble and Netmarble Neo have announced Solo Leveling: KARMA, confirming a mechanical shift for the franchise into the roguelite action RPG genre. During Tokyo Game Show 2026, the developer highlighted a narrative focus on the 27-year-long Monarch War, a period set within the “Dimensional Gap” after protagonist Sung Jinwoo utilizes the Cup of Reincarnation.

While previous titles in the series often relegated the Shadow Army to summonable assists, Solo Leveling: KARMA establishes Shadow Army members as directly controllable playable characters. This allows players to pilot specific shadows rather than focusing exclusively on Sung Jinwoo, diversifying the combat styles available within the roguelite structure.

Narrative Expansion and Roguelite Systems

The game’s story fills a significant gap in the original manhwa’s timeline, detailing the decades-long conflict that takes place outside of the primary world’s view. This setting serves as the backdrop for the game’s roguelite progression. In the build showcased at TGS 2026, the gameplay loop featured more than 200 types of buffs that players can acquire during runs to modify their abilities.

The demo version available at the event included eight playable characters. According to the systems overview, players will navigate randomized challenges where character builds are shaped by the tactical selection of these buffs, distinguishing the experience from the more traditional action-RPG progression seen in Solo Leveling: Arise.

Pre-Registration and Global Cast

Official pre-registration for the title launched on September 16, 2026, though it is currently limited to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store in South Korea and Japan. Netmarble has confirmed specific rewards for those who sign up early, including the “Sung Jinwoo Predator Outfit” and a “Shadow Monarch Halo Decoration” for in-game use.

The English localization features returning and high-profile talent to maintain continuity with the animated adaptation. Aleks Le returns as the voice of Sung Jinwoo, while veteran voice actor Troy Baker provides the voice for Antares, the Monarch of Destruction.

Solo Leveling: KARMA is currently in development for PC, iOS, and Android. While a firm global release date has not been finalized beyond the late 2026 window, the recent TGS presentation suggests the game is nearing the final stages of production for its initial target markets.
