The upcoming title The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch is planned for release on both PC and console platforms.
According to development plans, NEOWIZ intends to focus on faithfully recreating the narrative and atmosphere of the original game for a modern global audience. This new project represents a significant effort to expand the reach of the classic title following the critical success of NEOWIZ’s recent projects, such as Lies of P.
Originally released in 1994, Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch is the first entry in the “Gagharv Trilogy.” This series is regarded by many fans as the narrative precursor to the modern Trails (Kiseki) franchise. The trilogy holds a significant place in the developer’s history; in a 2021 survey conducted by Dengeki Online, the Gagharv Trilogy was voted the most-requested series for a modern console revival by fans.
This upcoming project is distinct from other recent efforts to preserve the series. In August 2026, a “Renewal” edition of the game was released in Japan on the Nintendo Switch via the EGG Console service. While that release focused on emulating the original experience for retro enthusiasts, the project involves a dedicated development effort for modern hardware.
Specific details regarding the nature of the project—whether it will be a full remake or a high-definition remaster—have not yet been officially identified. A specific release window and confirmed host consoles have also not yet been officially identified alongside the PC version.
