GTA 6 Soundtrack Gets 11 Physical Variants Amid Digital-Only Game Launch

Rockstar Games has announced a massive physical rollout for the soundtrack of its upcoming blockbuster, Grand Theft Auto VI. Scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, “Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album” will feature 11 distinct physical variants, offering a premium tactile experience for music collectors even as the game itself is positioned for a digital-exclusive launch.

The soundtrack is a collaborative project with Atlantic Records and consists of 34 original tracks. While the full tracklist remains under wraps, six singles are already available for streaming, including “That’s It” by Yung Lean and “Bright Lights, Big City” by Keith Richards.

The 11 Variants and Collector Editions

The physical release strategy is divided between two CD editions and nine unique vinyl variants. To cater to collectors, Rockstar has partnered with a wide array of retailers to offer exclusive colorways. These retailers include Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Urban Outfitters, Barnes & Noble, and international outlets such as HMV and Blood Records.

The centerpiece of the collection is a high-end, limited-edition vinyl priced at $124.98. This version features two transparent magenta discs filled with blue liquid. For fans seeking more standard options, prices for the various editions start as low as $19.98.

A Strategy of Physical Paradox

The robust physical presence of the album highlights an unusual contrast in Rockstar’s distribution strategy. According to Rockstar Games, the album will arrive the same day the game is expected to debut. However, current reporting indicates that Grand Theft Auto VI will be a digital-only launch, meaning players may be able to own a physical copy of the music before they can own a physical disc of the game itself.

This shift marks a departure from previous entries in the series, where physical “special editions” of the game often included the soundtrack as a pack-in bonus. By decoupling the music and offering nearly a dozen physical versions, Rockstar appears to be treating the soundtrack as a standalone prestige product rather than a promotional accessory.

The 34-track album focuses on original compositions tailored for the game’s atmosphere. This moves the series further toward a custom-scored model, though it is currently unclear how this physical release will interact with the traditional licensed radio stations that have defined the franchise’s identity in the past.
