Beginner-Friendly Bullet Hell Kaguya Set for Steam Release in 2027

Flypot.LLC and AMATA Games have announced that Kaguya, a vertical-scrolling bullet hell shoot ’em up, is scheduled to launch on PC in 2027.

Developed by the Tokyo-based studio Flypot.LLC, Kaguya is designed as an entry point for players who are curious about the “bullet hell” subgenre but find its traditional difficulty curve prohibitive. The project was born from the developer’s own experience as a fan of the genre who struggled with the high skill floor of classic titles, leading to a design philosophy that prioritizes accessibility without stripping away the visual spectacle of dense projectile patterns.

Bridging the Gap for Newcomers

To accommodate different skill levels, the development plan for Kaguya includes three distinct difficulty settings: Normal, Hard, and Hell. While the “Hell” mode is intended to provide a bridge for genre veterans seeking a traditional challenge, the core experience is tuned for those unfamiliar with complex dodging mechanics.

The game includes a Library Mode to allow players to enjoy voiced dialogue outside of combat.

The game is structured across six playable stages featuring fully voiced protagonists. Players follow the story of Akari Mikado, a stoic heroine with a deep interest in mechanical design, and Akane Hiiragi, her tactical navigator. To ensure players can enjoy the narrative and character interactions without the pressure of active combat, the developer has included a dedicated “Library Mode.” This feature allows players to revisit and listen to voiced dialogue segments at their own pace, separate from the intensity of the flight stages.

Technical Requirements and Platform Details

While the game is confirmed for a Steam release, potential players should note specific hardware requirements. According to the game’s official Steam documentation, Kaguya requires the use of a controller for play. Mouse and keyboard inputs are currently not supported, reflecting the game’s roots in traditional arcade-style controls.

The partnership with AMATA Games as publisher aims to bring this “kinder” take on the shooter genre to a wider global audience. By focusing on a structured six-stage progression and specific mechanical solutions for beginners, Flypot.LLC seeks to demystify a genre often defined by its hostility toward new players.
