Halloween: The Game Update 1.009.000 Patch Notes: Cross-Play Fixes

Published on:

Boss Team Games has released the Day One patch for Halloween: The Game, version 1.009.000, on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. This update focuses on stabilizing cross-platform multiplayer and rebalancing the core Athleticism stat to better manage the pace of chases between Michael Myers and the Civilians.

The most significant technical improvement addresses cross-play party persistence. Before this update, party members playing on different platforms were frequently disconnected and sent back to the main menu instead of following the party leader into a new lobby. Patch 1.009.000 corrects this matchmaking behavior, ensuring groups stay together between matches.

Athleticism and Stamina Rebalancing

The update introduces a major shift in how the Athleticism stat functions. These changes create a more forgiving “floor” for new players while capping the effectiveness of high-level builds to prevent infinite kiting of the killer.

  • Athleticism Levels 1–4: Received buffs to exhausted duration and stamina regeneration rates, helping newer players recover faster during early-game encounters.
  • Athleticism Levels 6–10: Received nerfs to maximum stamina. This adjustment targets high-end progression to ensure that experienced Civilians cannot outrun the Shape indefinitely without utilizing environmental obstacles.
  • Stalked Status: Civilians marked as “Stalked” now experience a reduced Stamina Regen Rate and an increased Stamina Regen Delay. These penalties scale based on the specific Stalk level Michael Myers has achieved on that target.

Gameplay Changes for Michael Myers

Several adjustments have been made to Michael Myers (The Shape) to improve his effectiveness in tracking and to counter repetitive stun tactics. According to GamingBolt, these day-one changes are intended to address balancing issues identified during the initial launch window.

  • Blindness Resistance: Michael Myers now gains increased diminishing returns when blinded by flashlights or other items multiple times within a short window.
  • Detection Pulse: The effectiveness of the Detection Pulse ability has been increased specifically for finding Residents hiding in Hiding Spots, such as closets or under beds.

Map Rotation and Progression Fixes

To improve variety in Public Matches, a new map rotation system is now active. This system prevents the same map from appearing twice in a row, requiring the game to cycle through all available maps before a repeat can occur. This ensures players experience the full range of Haddonfield locations more consistently.

The patch also resolves a major progression bug where players were not receiving the achievement for completing Chapter 5. This fix is retroactive, meaning players who have already met the requirements should see the achievement unlock upon their next login or completion of a subsequent match.
