This follows an intense legal period for the emulation community. In August 2026, a DMCA sweep by Nintendo resulted in the removal of over 400 repositories associated with Switch emulation. The decision to archive the main repository effectively locks the software, halting any future official updates or compatibility fixes.

While the archiving of the repository marks the end of Suyu as a central project, the legal landscape has made further public development of such tools increasingly difficult.
