Path of Exile 2 Update 0.5.5 Patch Notes: Trial of Chaos and Bug Fixes

Published on:

Grinding Gear Games released update 0.5.5 for Path of Exile 2 on September 7, 2026. The patch, identified as build 1.122 on consoles, focuses on preventing reward exploits in the Trial of Chaos and restoring quest progression for players stuck in The Manor Ramparts.

Trial of Chaos and Progression Fixes

A significant change in this hotfix targets how players earn Ascendancy Points. Players can now only claim these points from the Trial of Chaos if they are present in the instance at the moment the boss dies. This change prevents players from receiving character upgrades without participating in the encounter.

For players progressing through the campaign, the update resolves a bottleneck in The Manor Ramparts. Previously, the entrance to this area could become inactive after the liberation of Leitis, preventing players from continuing the story. This entrance has been restored to a functional state.

Stability and Crash Fixes

The 0.5.5 update addresses eight distinct technical failures to improve overall game stability. These are divided into two categories:

  • Client Crashes: Four specific issues that caused the player’s local software to shut down have been resolved.
  • Instance Crashes: Four specific server-side issues that caused game worlds to collapse have been fixed.

Additional Bug Fixes

Several mechanical and visual bugs were addressed to align with intended gameplay designs:

  • Ocean Biome Expeditions: Fixed an issue where using Expedition Tablets would incorrectly generate three sites.
  • Ritual Encounters: The Great White One now correctly displays its fin animation while moving underground during these encounters.

These changes follow the launch of the Fate of the Vaal League, which previously introduced enhanced Unique modifiers to the game. By addressing both client-side software errors and server-side instance crashes, this hotfix aims to stabilize the experience for those pushing through league content.
