Capcom has officially scheduled Monster Hunter Wilds for a Nintendo Switch 2 release on December 4, 2026. This version is notable for restoring a staple of the franchise’s handheld history: local 4-player wireless multiplayer. While the title originally launched on other platforms in early 2025, the Switch 2 iteration is being positioned as a feature-complete package that bridges the gap between modern technology and the social gaming roots of the series.
Digital pre-orders for the Switch 2 version are set to open on October 19, 2026. Early adopters can secure the game at a discounted price of $29.99 until December 3. Following the launch, the standard digital edition will carry an MSRP of $39.99, which is the same price point set for the physical Deluxe Edition.

The inclusion of local wireless play marks a return to the “handheld hunting” culture that defined the series on prior Nintendo portables. This feature allows four players in the same physical vicinity to hunt together without the need for an internet connection. Despite this focus on local social play, Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 will support full cross-platform play, allowing users to join hunts with players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Because the Switch 2 release arrives significantly after the original debut, the port will include all free title updates released since February 2025. This ensures that Switch 2 players have immediate access to content such as the Lagiacrus update and the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration. Furthermore, the major expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, is already confirmed for a 2027 release on the Switch 2, bringing it into parity with other platforms.

The announcement was part of a broader reveal of Capcom’s upcoming lineup for the new Nintendo hardware. During the same presentation, the publisher announced that the remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 will also arrive on the Switch 2, with those titles scheduled for release on October 16, 2026.
To give players a chance to experience the game’s performance on the new system, Capcom plans to release a free “Prologue Demo” on the eShop ahead of the December launch. While specific technical specifications regarding frame rates and resolution have not been detailed, the demo is expected to serve as the primary performance showcase for the port.
