Sucker Punch Productions released Ghost of Yōtei patch 2.000 (v2.000.000) on September 21, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. This update focuses on resolving rare game crashing issues and preparing the title for the upcoming Complete Edition launch on October 1.

The update requires approximately 30 GB of storage space and serves as the technical foundation for the game’s anniversary content. For existing owners of the base game, the PlayStation.Blog confirmed that the Complete Edition Upgrade will be available for $14.99 USD.

Preparation for the Complete Edition

While patch 2.000 focuses on stability, it contains the data necessary for the expansion and free content arriving in October. The upcoming content drop includes the “Echoes of Sekigahara” expansion, which features narrative flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland and introduces a new valley in Ezo occupied by a gang known as the Vipers.

A free content update arriving alongside the Complete Edition on October 1 will introduce several features:

  • Beauty of Yōtei mode: A new visual feature set.
  • Armor Transmog: The ability to customize armor appearance independently of stats.
  • Accessibility: New high-contrast options for improved visibility.

Jin Sakai Returns in Most Wanted Mode

The addition coming to the game is “Most Wanted,” a single-player roguelike survival mode. In this mode, players accept various bounties to earn perks and progress through increasingly difficult encounters. Sucker Punch confirmed that Jin Sakai is a playable character within this mode. He retains his signature Ghost stances. Other playable characters in the Most Wanted roster include:

  • Nagato: Specialized in yari (spear) combat.

Technical Improvements

The immediate impact of patch 2.000 is improved software stability. Players on both PS5 and PS5 Pro should experience fewer instances of crashing during open-world traversal. According to reports from Push Square, the 30 GB file size is largely attributed to pre-loading assets for the October 1 expansion to ensure a seamless transition for players who purchase the upgrade.

Existing save data is compatible with this version, and the stability fixes are active immediately upon installation. Players will be able to access the new narrative content and “Most Wanted” mode once the Complete Edition officially unlocks on October 1.
