The hand-drawn Metroidvania Fallen Tear: The Ascension officially transitioned out of Early Access today, September 23, 2026, with its 1.0 release on PC via Steam. While PC players can now experience the full version of the title, developers Winter Crew and CMD Studios have also clarified the timeline for console enthusiasts, establishing a target launch window of Q2 2027.
The upcoming console debut is set to bring the high-intensity combat and exploration of Fallen Tear: The Ascension to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Notably, the development team has also included the successor to the Nintendo Switch in their target platform list for the 2027 rollout. To coincide with the digital launch next year, physical editions of the game are officially planned for the console versions.

The World of Raoah and Fated Bonds
The 1.0 release on PC introduces the complete journey of Hira, a mysterious protagonist traveling through the expansive world of Raoah. Players navigate various biomes to find and confront ancient gods in a quest to restore balance to a fractured realm. The game’s visual style is characterized by traditional hand-drawn animation, which extends from the environment to the fluid combat mechanics.
A central pillar of the gameplay is the “Fated Bonds” system. This mechanic allows players to recruit and bond with 22 unique allies found throughout the world. Each ally provides Hira with distinct abilities and combat advantages, encouraging different playstyles and strategic combinations. According to official release details, these bonds are essential for overcoming the increasingly difficult challenges found in the later stages of the game.
Release Roadmap
The transition to version 1.0 marks the conclusion of the game’s Early Access period, which was used to refine the combat pacing and balance the “Fated Bonds” interactions based on community feedback. The Q2 2027 window for consoles allows the developers additional time to optimize performance across the various hardware specifications of the PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo ecosystems.
While the PC version is available now, players on other platforms can expect further updates regarding the specific release dates and the contents of the planned physical editions as the 2027 target window approaches.
