Arc Raiders Frozen Trail Update: New Map, Outposts, and Progression Explained

Published on:

Embark Studios is scheduled to launch the Frozen Trail update for Arc Raiders on October 8, 2026. This major content expansion coincides with the first anniversary of the high-stakes extraction shooter, which has reached a commercial milestone of more than 16 million copies sold since its release in late 2025.

The update introduces a significant expansion to the game’s progression systems and environmental challenges. Central to this expansion is the addition of Pendola Pass, a new map characterized by vertical mountainous terrain. This environment introduces the “Flash Freeze” mechanic, a dynamic weather condition that requires Raiders to adapt their survival strategies and equipment to handle sudden, extreme temperature drops.

Progression in Arc Raiders is being broadened through the introduction of personal Outposts. Players will now be able to build and customize these individual hubs, representing a shift in how Raiders develop their long-term presence and resource management between missions. According to official development highlights, these Outposts serve as a primary component of the game’s evolving progression structure.

The Frozen Trail update also increases the variety of mechanical threats encountered during extractions. Three new ARC machine types—the Skulker, the Hydra, and the Bully—will be integrated into the game’s ecosystem, each presenting unique combat behaviors that players must navigate while scavenging for resources.

The introduction of customizable personal Outposts suggests a broader approach to how players manage their gear for the increasingly hazardous conditions found in the Pendola Pass.
