Psyonix has released Rocket League update 2.76, marking the official launch of Season 24. The update introduces a significant change to the game’s economy with the arrival of Black Market trade-ins, alongside a new mid-match challenge system and a physics-based Limited Time Mode.
Black Market Trade-ins and Season 24 Rewards
The most substantial change to the inventory system is the introduction of Black Market trade-ins. Players can now trade in three duplicate Black Market items to receive one new Black Market item. This 3:1 ratio is a departure from the standard 5:1 ratio required for lower rarity tiers, making it more accessible for players to recycle high-end duplicates.
For competitive players, Season 24 introduces a new distinction for high-level achievements. “Top 100 Titles” are now categorized as a unique seasonal reward tier, separating them from standard Grand Champion or Super Sonic Legend (SSL) titles.
Honor Duels and Bullet Ball
Update 2.76 introduces “Honor Duels,” a feature that allows players to settle rivalries during a standard match. Players can initiate a 1v1 challenge mid-game; if accepted, the duel commences immediately after the current match concludes. While other players can spectate these duels, the official Rocket League patch notes do not specify if there is a limit on spectator capacity or if it affects server performance.
A new free-for-all Limited Time Mode (LTM) called “Bullet Ball” has also been added. The mode functions as a hybrid of Heatseeker and Knockout mechanics:
- The ball features homing logic that targets specific players.
- If the ball hits a targeted car, that player is demolished.
- Players must flip into the ball to redirect it and avoid destruction.
- The mode operates on a last-car-standing basis.
Gameplay Customization and Camera Updates
Players now have more control over how they track performance and view the arena. Custom Scoreboards allow the replacement of standard statistics—such as Shots, Saves, and Assists—with more specific event tracking, including Demolitions, High Fives, and Flip Resets.
Camera improvements include a new free-look mode and an optional center-dot reticule. These features are available for both controller and mouse-and-keyboard users to assist with orientation and precision during aerial maneuvers.
Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements
The 2.76 update addresses several technical issues across platforms, specifically targeting UI stability and graphical fidelity:
- PlayStation 5: Resolved an issue where the front-end UI became invisible after the console was launched from Rest Mode.
- PC Graphics: Repaired SMAA anti-aliasing to correctly smooth jagged edges on various arena assets.
- Training Packs: Fixed a collision bug in Mirrored Training Packs that caused cars to spawn inside the ground.
- Stats API: The GoalScored event now triggers correctly in replays, and the system properly reports a -1 value for matches with no contest.
