Studio Sasanqua, the new publishing venture founded by Kenji Ozawa, has officially entered the indie market with its first title, AFANTASIA. Ozawa, known for his work as the director of Visions of Mana, established the studio following the closure of NetEase Games’ Ouka Studio.

The transition from AAA leadership to indie publishing is driven by a “human-centric” management philosophy. Ozawa founded Sasanqua with the stated goal of protecting creators and ensuring management accountability, a move that serves as a direct response to his experiences with studio closures in the corporate sector. By focusing on indie advocacy, Ozawa aims to provide a more stable environment for developers to realize their creative visions.
A Surreal Narrative from a Global Perspective
AFANTASIA is a surreal narrative adventure game developed by the Brazilian solo developer noidnoidnoid. The partnership between a Japanese publisher and a South American developer illustrates a growing trend of international collaboration in the indie space.
The game’s plot follows a protagonist navigating a town called Tempo in search of their identity. Throughout the experience, players are guided by a voice known as “Intrusion.” To support the game’s technical quality, Studio Sasanqua has engaged in a partnership with Glitz Visuals, a firm known for its work on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. This technical collaboration allows the solo-developed project to benefit from high-level industry expertise.
October 2026 Showcase Events
Studio Sasanqua has scheduled several public appearances to showcase AFANTASIA this month. Playable demos will be available at two major international events:
- Brasil Game Show 2026: A playable build will be presented in the developer’s home region.
- DREAMSCAPE#5 (Tokyo): The game will be featured at this indie showcase later in October 2026.

While Ozawa has a deep background in console development, the current release plan for AFANTASIA is focused on PC via Steam. Although some industry tags have suggested potential console ports, official confirmation remains limited to the PC platform.
The launch of AFANTASIA is only the beginning for Ozawa’s new venture. Studio Sasanqua has indicated that it intends to announce its second publishing title before the end of 2026, signaling an aggressive start for the fledgling publisher.
