Treyarch and Raven Software have released a new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on September 25, 2026. This patch introduces a shift to the competitive meta by lifting restrictions on the VMP in Ranked Play and implementing nerfs to the Fortune’s Keep Boat Exclusion Zone in Warzone.

The update is currently live for players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Ranked Play Meta Shift

The primary change for competitive players is the removal of restrictions on the VMP submachine gun and its specific attachments in Ranked Play. Previously restricted, the inclusion of the VMP is a factual shift in the mode’s weapon hierarchy, providing a high-mobility option that was previously sidelined.

Warzone Balance and Gameplay Changes

Raven Software has targeted the Boat Exclusion Zone on Fortune’s Keep with reductions to its effectiveness:

  • Duration Reduction: The Fortune’s Keep Boat Exclusion Zone now lasts for 80 seconds, decreased from its previous duration of 140 seconds.
  • Usage Limit: The total number of uses permitted has been decreased from three down to two.

General Warzone gameplay has also been adjusted. Players can no longer detonate C4 while in the Last Stand state. Additionally, an exploit in the Bank Vault interaction screen has been resolved; this bug allowed players to avoid all incoming damage while interacting with the screen.

Zombies: Rex Infernus Fixes

In the Rex Infernus map, two specific issues have been addressed for the Zombies mode:

  • Z-Rex Stuck State: Fixed a bug where the Z-Rex could become stuck out of bounds during the Boss Rush phase.
  • Nexus Forge Interaction: Resolved an issue where players holding the Usurped Flame were unable to interact with the Nexus Forge crank.

Weapon and Technical Fixes

The patch includes a correction for the Warden 308 Revolver. A bug that caused the Akimbo fire-mode toggle to operate in reverse has been fixed, ensuring the weapon behaves as intended when using the attachment.
