Bandai Namco Studios released update 2.002 for CODE VEIN II on September 14, 2026. This hotfix, designated as version 2.02 on PC and Xbox, addresses a critical quest progression blocker that appeared following the launch of the Mask of Idris expansion.
Quest Progression Fix
The primary purpose of the 2.002 update is to resolve a major bug that prevented players from advancing through specific story threads. This fix applies to all supported platforms, including PlayStation 5, PC (Steam), and Xbox Series X|S. While the hotfix is small in scope compared to the previous major milestone, it is required for players who found their save files stalled during the expansion content.
Context: Mask of Idris and Version 2.0
This update follows the significant Version 2.0 release and the Mask of Idris expansion, which both launched on September 9, 2026. That earlier update cycle introduced “The Age of Harmony” post-game mode and added Jadwiga as a new companion partner for players to recruit.
The 2.0 update also introduced a “Legacy Shader” option. According to Notebookcheck, this visual setting is designed to recreate the specific anime-inspired aesthetic from the original Code Vein for players who prefer the previous game’s look over the sequel’s updated art direction.
How to Access Mask of Idris Content
For players returning to the game for the new expansion, certain prerequisites must be met before the Mask of Idris content becomes available. Access requires specific progress within the base game campaign:
- Players must reach the Luna Fraterna ending.
- Players must complete the series of requests provided by the character Valentin Voda.
Once these conditions are satisfied, the expansion content will trigger within the world. If you previously encountered a stop in progression while attempting these quests, the 2.002 hotfix should allow you to continue. More details on general game balance can be found in the Bandai Namco notes for the preceding 2.01 update.
