Double Eleven has released Rust Console Edition update 1.016.014 (Patch 1.16), introducing a technical shift with an upgrade to the Unity 6.3 engine. Engine Upgrade to Unity 6.3

The transition to Unity version 6.3 represents a significant technical change. This engine upgrade is designed to improve performance and visuals. While the immediate impact focuses on frame rate stability and rendering efficiency, the upgrade serves as a foundation for future content.

Storage Box DLC and Organization

To assist with base management, the Storage Box DLC includes 16 unique skins designed specifically for item organization. These skins feature visual labels for common categories, including weapons, resources, and explosives. This DLC aims to reduce the time players spend searching through generic chests by providing thematic icons for loot rooms.

Gameplay and Building Improvements

Several quality-of-life changes have been implemented to streamline base construction and respawn management. A building system update now allows players to disable snapping for High External Walls and Gates, offering more precision when placing defenses.

Management of respawn points has also been simplified. Players can now unclaim or delete Sleeping Bags and Beds by holding Square on PlayStation or X on Xbox. This provides a way to clear out old respawn points or reorganize base layouts.

Bug Fixes and Environment Polish

The update addresses several physics and visual issues. Detailed in the official dev blog, these fixes cover environment collisions and vehicle behavior:

  • Vehicle Exploits: Fixed a Minicopter exploit where seat switching prevented crash damage.
  • Environment Collisions: Resolved issues where players could fall through the bucket lift in Caves or clip through the Canyon floor.
  • Visual Fixes: Flame Turrets and Hot Air Balloons no longer produce flame visuals when switched off.

2026 Halloween Event

The 2026 Halloween event is scheduled to run from October 15 through November 4. Players can expect seasonal content during this three-week window.
