Bandai Namco has released Update 2.01 (Build 2001.000) for Code Vein II on September 9, 2026. This release coincides with the launch of the Mask of Idris expansion and introduces a suite of free content, visual options, and technical improvements for players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Accessing the Mask of Idris Expansion
The Mask of Idris is a paid DLC expansion that takes place in a new region called “The Forsaken World.” It features two new partner characters: Liv Voda and a specific variant of Lou. Players cannot enter this new content immediately; accessing the expansion requires meeting specific progression milestones in the main game.
To begin the expansion, players must reach the “Luna Fraterna” ending and complete a specific sub-mission titled “Discuss Opinions with Valentin: The Book of Mag Mell Island.” Once these requirements are met, the new story content becomes available.
Free Update 2.01 and Post-Game Content
Alongside the paid expansion, all players received a free update. This includes the “Age of Harmony” post-game mode, which adds new story episodes for partner characters that take place after the “Miraculous Bonds” ending. This mode also introduces Jadwiga as a playable partner, who utilizes a greatsword and mid-range Formae in combat.
Additional features included in the free update are:
- Trial of Remembrance: A new mode featuring boss rematches that rewards players with over 90 new customization parts.
- Legacy Character Shader: A specific visual toggle that returns character models to the anime-style rendering used in the original Code Vein.
- Highlander Spell Fix: Corrected an issue where the “Highlander” support spell could be activated even when Life Points (LP) were at 0.
According to a report by GamingTrend, the update serves as a major content bridge for players who have already completed the base game.
Technical and Platform-Specific Changes
The PC version of Code Vein II received specific performance enhancements in version 2.01. Steam players now have access to NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation and NVIDIA Reflex to improve frame rates and reduce input latency.
The update also addresses general stability and performance across all platforms as part of the Build 2001.000 deployment, ensuring compatibility with the new assets introduced in the Forsaken World environment.
