Minecraft Update 1.058 (PS5 1.058.000) Adds Wilderness Bound Biome

Minecraft Update 1.058 (PS5 version 1.058.000) was released on September 15, 2026, delivering the “Wilderness Bound” content drop. Also identified as Bedrock version 1.26.50 on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and mobile platforms, this update introduces the Dappled Forest biome and new utility items that change how players manage exploration and night-skipping mechanics.

Game Drop 3: Wilderness Bound Features

The primary addition in this update is the Dappled Forest, a cold-adjacent biome that introduces several new environmental blocks. Players exploring these woods will find Poplar Trees along with unique ground-level generation such as Leaf Litter and Shelf Mushrooms growing on tree trunks.

The update also introduces Abandoned Camps, which are biome-specific structures. These locations are essential for navigators, as they contain loot chests that may hold Explorer Maps leading to high-value structures like Ancient Cities and Mineshafts.

New Utility: Straw Beds and Cushions

Update 1.058 introduces two new interactable items that provide distinct functional and decorative options. Cushions are now available in 16 colors and are crafted using three Wool Slabs. Once placed, these blocks allow players to sit on them.

Straw Bed Mechanics

The Straw Bed is a specialized utility item designed for players on the move. It differs significantly from standard Beds in three ways:

  • Night Skip Only: While it allows players to sleep through the night, it does not set or change a player’s respawn point.
  • Single Use: A Straw Bed is destroyed immediately after one use.
  • Exploration Focus: This allows players to pass the night in the wilderness without accidentally losing their home base respawn location.

Expanded Building Blocks and Fixes

The building palette has been expanded to include Stairs and Slabs variants for both Wool and Concrete blocks. These new shapes are available in all 16 colors, allowing for more detailed construction using these materials.

A notable gameplay fix has been applied to projectile logic. Projectiles, such as arrows, can no longer hit the person who fired them or the mount they are riding until the projectile has left the vehicle hierarchy. This prevents players from taking accidental self-damage when firing low-charge arrows while moving or riding a mob.

For technical users and creators, Mojang has tightened entity component schemas for format versions 1.26.50 and newer to enforce stricter parsing. Complete technical details regarding these schema changes are available on the Minecraft Feedback site.
