Crytek released hotfix 2.9.0.1 for Hunt: Showdown 1896 on September 10, 2026. Labeled as version 1.000.050 on PlayStation 5, this update restores three missing Legendary Hunters and resolves a progression bug affecting the LeMat High Velocity Ammo that followed the launch of the Blood Testament event.
The update is currently live for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Crytek has officially ended support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles with the transition to the 1896 version of the game. The patch requires a download of approximately 200 MB and did not require server downtime.
Restoration of Legendary Hunters
Following the launch of Update 2.9 and the Blood Testament event on September 8, several Legendary Hunters became unavailable in the recruitment menus. This hotfix re-enables the following characters:
- Hex Breaker
- Corvid: Bile
- Corvid: Brood
The return of these hunters is specifically relevant for players participating in the active Blood Testament event, as the Hex Breaker and Corvid hunters are eligible for event-specific XP bonuses. Restoring them allows players to utilize these bonuses for faster progression through the event tiers.
LeMat High Velocity Ammo and Bug Fixes
A primary correction in this hotfix addresses the LeMat High Velocity Ammo. While intended to be a core addition with the 2.9 update, the ammunition type remained erroneously locked for many players. Crytek has confirmed that this ammo type is now unlocked by default for all users.
According to the official Steam News, the hotfix is a targeted response to issues introduced during the September 8 event launch. By making the LeMat High Velocity Ammo available immediately, the developer removes a progression barrier that was not intended to be part of the standard unlock cycle.
Impact for Players
The immediate availability of the missing hunters and the LeMat ammunition allows players to resume standard loadout builds and event grinding without further delays. Because no server downtime was required, players only need to apply the small 200 MB update to their respective platforms to see the changes in their recruitment and equipment screens.
